The Maria L. Varisco-Rogers Charter School is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our team for the school year.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, individualized instruction that supports students with diverse learning needs while fostering academic achievement, independence, and personal growth. Essential Responsibilities

• Develop and implement standards-based lessons aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, and school curriculum.
• Differentiate instruction and implement evidence-based teaching strategies to meet the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, independence, and student success.
• Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and maintain accurate attendance, grades, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student achievement.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Programs.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, accommodations, and classroom expectations.
• Utilize instructional technology and student data to inform instruction and improve learning outcomes.
• Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
• Support school-sponsored activities, family engagement events, field trips, and other community-building opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

Qualifications
Required

• Valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) Endorsement or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification, together with the appropriate instructional certificate, or eligibility for certification.
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Successful completion of the New Jersey Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred

• Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.
• Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of New Jersey special education regulations and IEP development.
• Experience implementing differentiated instruction and evidence-based interventions.
• Commitment to continuous professional growth and inclusive educational practices.

Salary
Starting at $60,170 annually
Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.
