Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and implement standards-based lessons aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, and school curriculum.
- Differentiate instruction and implement evidence-based teaching strategies to meet the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, independence, and student success.
- Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and maintain accurate attendance, grades, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student achievement.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Programs.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, accommodations, and classroom expectations.
- Utilize instructional technology and student data to inform instruction and improve learning outcomes.
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
- Support school-sponsored activities, family engagement events, field trips, and other community-building opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Required
- Valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) Endorsement or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification, together with the appropriate instructional certificate, or eligibility for certification.
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Successful completion of the New Jersey Criminal History Background Check.
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.
- Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of New Jersey special education regulations and IEP development.
- Experience implementing differentiated instruction and evidence-based interventions.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and inclusive educational practices.
