Job Description
Position Title: Special Education Teacher
Hours/Shift (Hours per week & Schedule): 8:00a - 4:00p | Monday - Friday (Schedules may vary by location/campus)
Pay: $40/hr Plus (Based on Experience)
Duration (Direct Placement, Contract, C2H): 26/27 School Year
Job Description/Role Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs, assessment data, and state and federal regulations.
• Deliver specialized instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies and differentiated instructional practices to meet diverse learning needs.
• Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom assessments to ensure student access to grade-level standards and meaningful educational progress.
• Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate data on student performance to monitor progress toward IEP goals and instructional objectives.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success in the least restrictive environment.
• Participate in eligibility meetings, annual IEP reviews, reevaluation meetings, manifestation determinations, and other special education conferences as required
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and district special education documentation, timelines, and reporting requirements.
• Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports appropriate behavior, social skills, and student engagement.
• Utilize positive behavior intervention strategies and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) when applicable.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, academic performance, behavioral concerns, and educational planning.
• Participate in professional development activities to maintain certification and stay current with best practices in special education.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate student needs and recommend appropriate educational services and accommodations.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with applicable laws and district policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the school administrator or special education leadership.
Qualifications:
Must (Experience, Licenses/Certifications, Endorsements, Skills):
-2+ Years of Special Education Teaching Experience
-GA Special Education Teaching License
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
-Bachelor's degree
-Georgia Teaching License
