Special Education Teacher | Irving, Texas

This rewarding contract opportunity begins August 11, 2026, and continues through May 28, 2027, offering full-time hours (37.5 per week) throughout the academic year. As a Special Education Teacher, you'll serve at one elementary school site, with assignments at a variety of campuses, each with its own caseload and focus-ranging from Total Language Classrooms (self-contained, small group rotations) to Behavior Classrooms and a Medically Fragile Unit.
You'll collaborate closely with other educators, specialists, and paraprofessionals, delivering personalized instruction and fostering an inclusive, positive classroom environment. Students' integration into activities such as lunch, art, and PE ensures meaningful opportunities for social and academic development.
Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Valid Texas Special Education (EC-12) certification
• Recent fingerprint clearance through TEA (or ability to obtain clearance within 7 days)
• Experience working in life skills, autism, behavior, or medically fragile classrooms preferred
• Strong collaborative, organizational, and communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for assigned students
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Monitor and report student progress; communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal regulations regarding special education services
• Foster social, emotional, and academic growth within self-contained classroom settings
