Special Education Teacher
The Special Education teacher plans and provides services for students with disabilities. Primary responsibilities include managing caseload of Special Education students, measuring student skills and progress, drafting appropriate IEPs, providing academic support, advising general ed teachers, coordinating testing accommodations, submitting required reports, participating in Child Find process, collaborating with school administrators, maintaining accurate files, and collaborating with all school staff to deliver appropriate special education services. Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Essential traits, skills and abilities include strong written and verbal communication skills, high level of organization, attention to detail, knowledge of student information systems and software related to special education, and knowledge of special education procedures.
Qualifications include Michigan Special Education teaching certification and satisfactory completion of criminal history check.
