Special Education Teacher - Des Plaines, Illinois

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Current and active Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement is required
• Background in inclusive/resource settings, structured classrooms, or co-teaching models
• Comfortable supporting the toileting needs of students if required and demonstrating positive behavior management strategies
• Passion for individualized instruction and ability to adapt teaching methods
• Previous experience with elementary or middle school students preferred
• Willingness to collaborate with paraprofessionals and general education staff

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction, implement IEPs, and track student progress
• Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support according to individual needs
• Collaborate on lesson planning and co-teaching with classroom teachers as assigned
• Effectively communicate with families, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain detailed records and comply with all district and state requirements
• Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

Role Details:

• Full-time contract (35 hours/week), starting August 2026 through May 2027
• Three available positions:
  • Inclusive/resource teacher (approx. 9-10 students)
  • Structured classroom for high-incidence needs (5 students, 2 paraprofessionals)
  • Co-taught instructional ELA classroom (8-9 students)
