As a 5th-6th grade school-based Special Education Teacher in Chicago, IL, your days will Include:
- Provide individualized, small-group, and classroom instruction aligned with students' IEPs in a co-teaching environment.
- Partner with general education teachers to plan and deliver differentiated English Language Arts and/or Mathematics instruction for 5th- and 6th-grade students.
- Implement appropriate accommodations, modifications, evidence-based instructional strategies, and assistive technology to support academic success.
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliant IEPs while monitoring student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection.
- Foster a safe, highly structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
- Collaborate with educators, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success and participate in IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with federal, state, and school requirements, including IDEA and Illinois special education regulations.
Position: Full-time contract in a school setting (2 openings)
Dates: ASAP - June 4, 2027
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
Classroom Setting: Co-teaching
Grade Level/Caseload: 5th- and 6th-grade ELA and/or Mathematics
Successful Candidates Possess
- A Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field (required)
- An active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement (required)
- A willingness to work within a highly structured school environment with clear expectations and consistent routines
- The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
