Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university.
The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Special Education in multiple modalitiesSupervise teacher candidates in pre-practicum and/or practicum field experiencesDevelop and maintain partnerships with local schools and districts to support practicum experiences and collaborative initiativesParticipate in program development, accreditation processes***DO NOT APPLY ON MASSCAREERS.*** *** Applications submitted on MassCareers will not be considered.***Applicants must apply on the Salem State Career site to be considered.QualificationsRequired QualificationsEarned doctoral degree in Special Education or a closely related field (conferred by August 1, 2027)Professional experience as a Special Education teacherDemonstrated commitment to inclusive instructional practices in educational settings and culturally responsive practicesA scholarly agendaExpertise in one or more of the following areas:Evidence-based instructional practices, materials, and methods for teaching students with moderate disabilitiesLiteracy instruction for students with disabilitiesDiagnostic and educational assessment for students with disabilitiesDevelopment, interpretation, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)Autism spectrum disorder, including school-based and home-based interventions, collaboration with families, and advocacy for students with autismPreferred QualificationsExperience teaching in higher educationExperience with online asynchronous or hybrid instruction and learning management systems, such as CanvasStrong organizational and written and communication skillsSalem State University seeks faculty and librarians whose teaching, scholarship, and service will contribute to student success, academic excellence, and the university’s public mission.
