Position
Special Education Paraeducator

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must meet applicable federal and State of Connecticut requirements for paraeducators. For positions subject to Title I requirements, candidates must also meet one of the following:
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
- Earned an Associate's degree or higher; or
- Achieved the required passing score on a Connecticut State Board of Education-approved paraeducator assessment.
- Experience working with students with disabilities and/or behavioral support needs is preferred but not required.
- Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to follow student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), behavior support plans, instructional programs, and staff direction.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment when working with students and families.
- Flexibility and willingness to support students with a variety of academic, behavioral, physical, and personal care needs.
- Basic computer skills, including email and student data systems.
- Must successfully complete all required pre-employment background checks and fingerprinting.
- Must complete all required district and state training within established timelines.

Schedule
- 10-month
- 181 work days per year
- 6.5 paid hours per day; schedule approximately 8:15 a.m. 3:15 p.m., including a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
- Salary: $24.76/hour - Step 1 of the AFSCME Local Agreement
