The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Special Education Department and campus staff to coordinate and plan ARD meetings. The Special education ARD Clerk will contact the parents to schedule meeting arrangements at a mutually agreeable time, to increase parent participation, and ensure campus and district staff are accurately invited and properly informed of all meetings.QualificationsEducation/CertificationHigh school diploma or equivalent. Bilingual is preferred.Special Knowledge/SkillsDemonstrated knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, Google Calendar, Google Docs. Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated ability to utilize telephone etiquette. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to work in a semi-supervised setting.
Can manage multiple tasks at one time. Self-starter.ExperienceSecretarial experience in a demanding setting– preferred. Knowledge of Special Education rules and regulations–preferred. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.Major Responsibilities and Duties1. Collaborate with the Special Education team on scheduling ARD meetings in a timely manner.2. Prepare and maintain ARD meeting calendar for assigned campus and notify all appropriate staff and attendees of changes/cancellations of meetings.3. Meet all timelines within TEA and District guidelines for annual meetings, evaluator, and campus requested meetings.4. Maintain knowledge of the Special Education Student Data Management System.5.
Attend District staff development and Special Education Meetings.6. Interpret ARD and other meetings when requested.7. Cover classes when needed for teacher participation in meetings.8. Prepare all necessary documentation (parent notification of meetings, district forms, and other submissions as necessary.) 9. Obtain parent and campus/district staff signatures within the Special Education Data Management System.10. Compile and maintain ARD/FIE timeline reports from the Special Education Data Management system to ensure all ARD meetings are scheduled within timelines.11. Comply with policies as established by Federal and State Law. State Board of Education and Local Board policy in the areas of special education duties (ARD meeting timelines, parent notification, etc.) 12.
Comply with all district and local campus routines and procedures.13. Present as a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school district.14. Comply with all district and local campus routines and procedures.15. Participate in required professional development and meetings, and follow all year-end procedures related to job assignment.16. Perform any other duties assigned by the Executive Director, Coordinator or Compliance Specialist.
