Special Education Paraprofessional
Work hours: 6.5 hours per day (8:35 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.), Monday through Friday, for 172 contract days (170 student contact days plus 2 inservice days during the school year) per school year.
Job duties:
- Assist student(s) with special needs in the classroom (i.e. behavior management, social skills, crisis intervention and instruction in basic skills)
- Supervise special education student(s) to ensure safety
- Assist with collecting and monitoring of student progress data
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Highly qualified per MDE requirements for special education paraprofessionals
- Acceptance of students' disabilities and limitations
- Must be able to lift, pull, or move a minimum of 50 pounds
- Accepts direction from supervising teacher(s) and is willing to work as a team
Salary and benefits: Salary based on the School Support Employees Agreement Level V from $20.58 up to $22.91 per hour. Benefits based on full-time employment and may be pro-rated for part-time positions. Benefits may include the following:
