To support accurate medical coding processes, the full-time South Carolina Licensed Coder II will abstract inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT4 codes while adhering to compliance guidelines. Key responsibilities Abstract and code all relevant diagnoses and procedures from medical records in accordance with official coding guidelines Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of code assignments to support proper reimbursement and reporting Collaborate with the Hospital Coding Supervisor to resolve coding issues and maintain coding compliance Required qualifications Associate's degree in health information technology or related field, or 5 years of coding experience Coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS) is required A minimum of 2-3 years of coding experience with an Associate's degree Familiarity with coding software and strong analytical skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills
