Itron is seeking a strategic and technically sophisticated Solution Architect (SA) to lead solution definition and architecture strategy throughout the sales process. Partnering closely with Enterprise and Client Executives, the SA serves as the trusted technical advisor responsible for translating customer challenges into compelling solution narratives that drive business value and revenue growth. This role combines solution architecture, consultative selling, and utility industry expertise to develop integrated offerings that align customer objectives, technical requirements, and commercial outcomes. The ideal candidate brings strong solution storytelling, broad architectural awareness, and a deep understanding of utility technologies including AMI, Grid Edge Intelligence, and Intelligent Network Connectivity.
Duties & Responsibilities
Own the technical solution strategy for assigned pursuits, ensuring alignment between customer goals, pricing, commercial strategy, and delivery feasibility. Partner with Enterprise and Client Executives to shape opportunities, expand solution scope, and drive Total Contract Value (TCV) growth. Develop and communicate Level 1 (platform-wide) and Level 2 (use-case-specific) architectures that clearly articulate customer value and business outcomes. Translate customer needs into solution narratives using use-case mapping, architecture design, and value-based storytelling. Act as a trusted advisor to technical, operational, and executive stakeholders throughout the sales process. Lead solution positioning for Grid Edge Intelligence, AMI 2.0, and Intelligent Network Connectivity initiatives. Evaluate alternative technologies and competitive approaches to effectively communicate Itron's differentiation and value. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solution accuracy, feasibility, and seamless transition from sales to delivery. Contribute to reusable solution assets, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of solution architecture practices. Demonstrate customer-centric, collaborative, accountable, agile, authentic, and innovative leadership in all customer and internal engagements.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. 8+ years of experience in solution architecture, technical pre-sales, product management, consulting, or related roles within the utility, telecommunications, or enterprise technology industries. Proven ability to develop and communicate complex solution architectures across multiple technologies, deployment models, and partner ecosystems. Experience translating customer business challenges into technically sound solutions with measurable business value. Strong understanding of AMI, Grid Edge Intelligence, Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS), data platforms, and utility communications technologies. Experience with solution scoping, Statements of Work (SOWs), and cross-functional solution development. Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage technical and executive audiences. Demonstrated success working collaboratively across sales, product, engineering, and delivery organizations.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience supporting electric, gas, or water utilities. Subject matter expertise in Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS). Experience with AMI 2.0, grid modernization, or digital utility transformation initiatives. Understanding of utility regulatory environments and business case development. Knowledge of cellular, RF mesh, and hybrid utility networking technologies. Experience supporting large, complex sales pursuits and strategic customer engagements.

Salary & Compensation
The base salary is $119,000-165,000 annually.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience and may vary by location.
