Overview
The BI Solution Architect is responsible for designing and governing the enterprise BI and analytics architecture , ensuring scalable, secure, and trusted analytics consumption from Snowflake‑based curated data layers . The role bridges business reporting needs with data engineering and BI delivery teams, defining semantic models, reporting standards, and governance patterns that enable self‑service analytics while meeting enterprise performance and compliance expectations.
Required Skills & Experience
Core Skills
- Bachelor’s in CS/IS or equivalent.
- 8+ years of ETL development experience with strong coding capability.
- BI Architecture: End‑to‑end BI / analytics architecture, semantic layer design
- Power BI / Fabric: Datasets, dataflows, DAX, Power Query, semantic models
- Data Modeling: Dimensional modeling (star schema, conformed dimensions, KPIs)
- Cloud Data Warehouse: Snowflake (DirectQuery vs Import, performance patterns)
- Security & Governance: Row‑Level Security (RLS), access controls, governed BI
- SQL: Strong SQL for analytical validation and troubleshooting
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Fabric Advanced Features: Semantic Link, shortcuts, advanced dataflows
- Performance Optimization: Incremental refresh, aggregations, model tuning
- Semantic Layer Tooling: dbt or similar semantic‑model management tools
- Legacy BI Modernization: Migration of ADW/legacy reports to Power BI
- Domain Knowledge: Insurance / Financial Services KPIs and reporting
- Self‑Service BI Enablement: Standards, templates, and adoption frameworks
