Software Staff Engineer (Embedded Systems)Location: Sterling Heights, MI Pay: $63–$71/hour Work Type: 100% Onsite Clearance: Ability to Obtain SecretOverview: Seeking a Software Staff Engineer to support embedded systems and vehicle electronics integration for ground combat platforms. This role focuses on OS/BSP development, software integration, and full lifecycle embedded software engineering in a mission-critical environment.Key Responsibilities:Design and configure software development environmentsDevelop embedded software, firmware, and documentationPerform requirements analysis and detailed software designWrite, test, and debug code (C, C++, C#, Java, Python)Execute hardware/software integration and system validationDevelop test procedures and perform unit/functional testingSupport software release integration (CSCI-level)Troubleshoot issues across multiple test phasesParticipate in Agile ceremonies (scrum, demos, sprint activities)Collaborate with systems, program, and quality teamsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field7+ years of embedded software experienceExperience with Linux, VxWorks, RTOS, BSPs, and virtualizationStrong programming skills (C, C++, Python, Java, C#)Experience with GIT, Bitbucket, and development toolchainsKnowledge of network protocols (CAN, TCP/IP, UDP, RS-232/422)Experience with Agile development processesPreferred:Experience with Yocto or Linux image build toolsKnowledge of hypervisors, device drivers, bootloadersFamiliarity with SELinux, secure boot, and embedded cybersecurityExperience with MOSA, SOSA, FACE, GCIA architecturesExperience with ground combat vehicle systemsAdditional Requirements:Ability to obtain a DoD Secret ClearanceAbility to work around military vehicles (ASR compliant)Willingness to work occasional overtimeWhy Join CPI?
