Software EngineerWe are searching for motivated and talented Software Engineer to join our Comprehensive Software Solutions (CSS) Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. CSS applies a wide variety of software concepts, techniques, and languages to solve challenging problems for ARL's sponsors as well as internally for ARL needs.ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.You will:Work closely with a team to develop applications to best fit project needsMaintain version tracking and code documentationSupport field testing – to include remote or in person troubleshooting of software systemRigorously test application and write unit tests, if required for projectRequired skills/experience areas include:Programming in C/C++, C#, Java, or PythonUse of version tracking tools – Jira, GitCreativity in problem solvingStrong written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation skillsPreferred skills/experience areas include:A degree in Software Engineering or Computer ScienceEmbedded software developmentGraphical user interface developmentCurrent eligibility for access to classified information at the TS/SCI level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if requiredYour working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA.
