Software Engineering Manager

The role requires someone to be located in the Atlanta, Georgia Area. -- It is remote with some in-office meetings in the Atlanta Area.

We’re seeking to connect a Development Manager with a leading organization supporting highly transactional enterprise applications on a full-time basis. The role is primarily remote and based in Georgia, with occasional in-person meetings in the Atlanta area.

About the Role

As a Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead an experienced software development team and leverage your expertise in Microsoft technologies, software delivery, legacy modernization, and people leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a software development team, providing technical direction, performance coaching, and professional development.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle and drive legacy application modernization, rewrites, and redesign initiatives.
• Own change control and release governance processes while ensuring changes are properly reviewed, approved, documented, and communicated.
• Modernize development metrics, project tracking, and reporting to improve visibility into delivery performance, code quality, and portfolio health.
• Recruit, onboard, and manage full-time and consultant development resources while aligning team capacity with organizational priorities.
• Partner with technical and business stakeholders to establish priorities, manage expectations, mitigate delivery risks, and evaluate technologies and AI-assisted tools that improve team effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8+ years of software development experience with a strong background in .NET/C#, plus at least 3 years in a development leadership or management role.
• Strong working knowledge of C#, .NET, SQL Server, SDLC methodologies, Agile/Scrum practices, change control, and release governance.
• Demonstrated experience leading legacy system modernization and managing contractor or consultant development resources.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, large enterprise applications, and AI-assisted development tools is preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, business, and external stakeholder groups.

Required Skills

• Strong background in .NET/C#.
• Strong working knowledge of C#, .NET, SQL Server.
• Knowledge of SDLC methodologies and Agile/Scrum practices.
