Position Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers focused on the certification of design, analysis, and testing of aircraft systems and components.
- Drive process improvement activities and collaborate with leadership to establish goals.
- Develop program‑specific software certification requirements for flow‑down to suppliers.
- Monitor project progress and performance, ensuring timely delivery of engineering solutions that meet safety and certification milestones.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate system‑level requirements into software requirements and models that meet customer, operational, and performance requirements with clear traceability.
- Implement engineering strategies that emphasize safety and reliability, cultivating a safety‑first mindset.
- Serve as the primary liaison for FAA representatives, facilitating transparent communication throughout the certification journey.
- Collaborate with FAA to navigate the certification process and ensure aircraft designs comply with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of comprehensive technical documentation for FAA certification.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff to enhance professional growth and technical expertise.
- Analyze and resolve complex engineering challenges using data‑driven decision‑making and industry best practices.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
- 3+ years of experience leading embedded software development, verification, or compliance activities.
- 3+ years of experience with RTCA DO‑178(B/C) Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification.
- 5+ years of experience working with software development life cycle processes.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
- Bachelor of Science in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- Level 3: 5+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level 4: 9+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certification Specialist.
- Experience with software development life cycles, configuration management, and agile practices.
- Experience leading software development projects, including architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs.
- Experience leading development, selection, tailoring, and deployment of processes, tools, and metrics.
- Strong data collection, organization, synthesis, and analysis skills.
- Knowledge of requirement traceability and software development processes in compliance with internal and industry standards.
- Knowledge of implementation, validation, and verification processes, practices, and guidelines to ensure software quality and safety.

- Experienced Level (Level 3): $124,100 – $167,900
- Senior Level (Level 4): $151,300 – $204,700
