Software EngineerABSC has an exciting opening for you, as our next Software Engineer, to play a critical role advancing the state of the art in mission-focused big data analytics and predictive analytics for DIA-National Media Exploitation Center (NMEC) under our 10-year Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) Technology Platform (DTP) contract. You will work closely with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, and Operations Engineering/Manager on a broad scope of activities extending across the development of systems to include middle-tier and backend engineering tasks. While most work is conducted on-site at our client location in Bethesda, MD, we offer a flexible schedule and, occasionally, some tasks may be performed remotely.
The percentage of remote work will vary based on client requirements/deliverables.Security clearance required for this role: TS/SCI (eligible) with ability/willingness to obtain a CI polygraph.Responsibilities:Develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems ( e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirementsProvides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of COTS/GOTS in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software componentsDesigns, implements, and integrates software applications or performs software engineering tasksUtilizes software engineering and design methodologies appropriate to the development, integration, and production environmentParticipate in test, staging and production deployment.Assist in the maintenance of services and procedures for a big data pipeline which includes Kafka, Elasticsearch, and several in-house written python/java micro services running on KubernetesDevelop and integrate Docker containers to be deployed to KubernetesMonitor automated system integration tests to identify failed modules and componentsManage individual project priorities, deliverables, and deadlinesFoster an environment of collaboration with the different team members in the goal of providing quality service and product to our customersRequirements:Requires Bachelor's Degree and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience. (Additional years of experience in lieu of degree are acceptable)Must possess an Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a PolygraphExperience with containerization, especially with DockerExperience with DevOps practices and tools including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools and practices, especially Gitlab or JenkinsAt least 8 years of experience with the following: PythonAPI developmentExperience in Extraction, Transformation, and Load (ETL)Experience enterprise search capabilities (such as Elasticsearch) to solve Big Data challengesExperience with PostgreSQL and SQL serverExperience with Agile practicesHands-on development and/or scripting experience, especially Python and Bash in Linux environmentExperience with AWS cloud-based architecture, services (Lambda, etc.), and software developmentExperience with ArtifactoryStrong verbal and written communication skillsEnthusiastic with the ability to work well in a team and a self-starter who can work on their ownDesired Skills:Active Security+ certificationActive CE certificationAbility to obtain Privileged User Account (PUA) certification by the GovernmentGraphQL ServiceApache NiFiExperience with systems at scaleKafka or other message passing systemsExperience of a production/enterprise systemAppian low-code application development platformExperience with any of the following technologies: GPU-based KubernetesSALT for deployment automationElasticsearch, Kibana, and LogstashSalary is commensurate with experience. Salary range for this requisition is: $160k-$225k annual.
