As a Software Engineer Principle within PNC's Retail Management Information Systems Technology and Product Management organization, you will be based in either Birmingham, AL, Dallas, TX, Pittsburgh, PA or Strongsville, OH.As a Software Engineer Principle at PNC, you will have the following:Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & ArchitectureLead the design and implementation of end to end mainframe legacy cobol application solutions.Serve as the technical authority for application architecture, design patterns, and integration approaches.Review and approve technical designs, code changes, and data integration logic to ensure quality, efficiency and consistency.Guide teams on best practices for performance and maintainability.Application Development & DeliveryHands on development and oversight of Cobol components/applications and legacy.Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions.Ensure timely delivery of features, enhancements, and defect fixes.Promote disciplined change management and release practices.Team Leadership & CollaborationMentor and guide developers and junior team members.Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues and solution development.Required Qualifications12+ years of software engineering experience with deep hands-on development expertise and proven technical leadership in mainframe/COBOL environments. Familiar with Endevor, mainframe DB2 database concepts, CICS and VSAM files. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong spec writing ability. Able to work with business and operations to understand requirements and create high and low level designs to meet requirements. Comfortable with learning new technologies not previously familiar with.
