As a Software Engineer Principal within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & ArchitectureLead the design and implementation of end to end application solutions using Angular, Java, and Informatica.Serve as the technical authority for application architecture, design patterns, and integration approaches.Review and approve technical designs, code changes, and data integration logic to ensure quality and consistency.Guide teams on best practices for performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.Application Development & DeliveryHands on development and oversight of:Angular based UI components and client side architectureJava back end services, APIs, and business logicInformatica mappings, workflows, and data pipelinesCollaborate with product owners and business analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions.Ensure timely delivery of features, enhancements, and defect fixes.Data Integration & ETLLead Informatica based data integration efforts, including source to target mappings, transformations, and scheduling.Ensure data quality, reliability, and traceability across systems.Support batch and near real time integrations as required by business use cases.SDLC, Quality & GovernanceEnforce SDLC standards, including design reviews, code reviews, testing, and documentation.Partner with QA teams to ensure adequate unit, integration, and regression testing.Support audit, risk, and compliance activities by providing documentation and evidence as required.Promote disciplined change management and release practices.Production Support & StabilityAct as a technical escalation point for production issues and incidents.Perform root cause analysis and drive long term fixes to improve platform stability.Monitor application health, performance, and data flows; proactively address risks.Team Leadership & CollaborationMentor and guide developers, ETL engineers, and junior team members.Provide technical direction during sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives.Collaborate closely with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.Required QualificationsExperience5+ years of overall IT experience with strong hands on development background3+ years in a technical lead or application lead roleTechnical SkillsFront End: Angular (modern versions), TypeScript, HTML, CSSBack End: Java, Spring / Spring Boot, RESTful APIsData Integration: Informatica PowerCenter and/or IICS (mappings, workflows, scheduling)Databases: Strong SQL skills (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar)DevOps/Tools: Git, CI/CD pipelines, issue tracking (e.g., Jira), logging/monitoring toolsArchitecture: Layered architecture, API integration, data flows, batch processingSoft SkillsStrong ownership mindset and accountability for application outcomesAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non technical stakeholdersExperience working in regulated or enterprise environments with governance controlsStrong problem solving and decision making skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in financial services or other highly regulated industriesFamiliarity with cloud platforms and modern deployment modelsExposure to security standards, data privacy, and audit expectationsPrior experience supporting business critical or customer facing platformsRole Characteristics (for leveling clarity)Hands on technical contributor and technical leaderOwns application design and technical decisionsInfluences delivery and quality across multiple teams or componentsActs as a bridge between engineering, data, and business stakeholdersPNC is an in-office company that fosters a supportive culture where employees can thrive and achieve balance.
