Software Engineer Level 3Markon is seeking a Software Engineer Level 3 to support the development of modern, cloud-based, microservices-driven applications for the Fort Meade Customer. This role spans full stack development, with a focus on building scalable frontend interfaces and high-performance backend services. The engineer will work across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-driven platforms to deliver resilient, mission-focused solutions.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain full stack applications using modern frontend and backend technologiesBuild responsive user interfaces using JavaScript, React, and JSX (with exposure to TypeScript)Design and implement backend services using Node.js, Python, and Rust for high-performance componentsDevelop and deploy microservices architectures using Kubernetes and HelmImplement service mesh, load balancing, and multi-site deployment strategiesSupport cloud migration efforts and optimize cloud-based system performanceIntegrate messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other message fabricsUtilize infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Salt) for deployment and automationDevelop and maintain real-time data processing using WebSockets and streaming technologiesImplement testing frameworks (e.g., Jest) to ensure code quality and reliabilityMonitor system performance using tools such as Grafana and InfluxDBWork with a variety of data stores including MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, and Neo4jCollaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to system architecture decisionsQualificationsRequired QualificationsActive TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field12+ years of software engineering experienceStrong experience with frontend development using JavaScript and React/JSXExperience with backend development using Node.js, Python, and/or RustExperience designing and deploying microservices architecturesHands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestrationFamiliarity with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud migration strategiesExperience with distributed systems, messaging frameworks, and real-time data processingKnowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Grafana)Experience working with relational and NoSQL databasesFamiliarity with big data and data flow tools such as NiFiUnderstanding of security labeling and compliance standards (e.g., CAM, LAC, COI)Ability to work independently and as part of a teamSalary RangeUSD $225,000.00 - USD $240,000.00 /Yr.
