Software Engineer Level 1As a Software Engineer Level 1 at Independent Software, you will develop, maintain, and enhance software systems supporting mission-critical operations. You will work both independently and within a team to design, build, and test solutions that process data, support system integration, and meet performance requirements. You will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, helping deliver reliable, scalable solutions aligned with mission needs.Key Responsibilities:Analyze user requirements and translate them into software design and functionalityDesign, develop, test, and maintain software applications and componentsDebug software and resolve defects in a timely mannerModify existing software to improve performance or add new functionalityIntegrate software into new or existing systems and environmentsDevelop and execute basic database queries to support data processingParticipate in code reviews and follow development best practicesCreate and maintain technical documentationCollaborate within Agile teams to support iterative developmentRequired Skills and Qualifications:Experience with one or more programming languages (Java, Python, C, or C++)Experience developing, testing, and debugging softwareFamiliarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologiesBasic experience with databases and writing queries (SQL or similar)Understanding of software design and system integration conceptsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentStrong communication skillsPreferred Skills:Experience with Java frameworks (Spring, Hibernate)Familiarity with Git or other version control toolsExposure to CI/CD pipelines or automated testingExperience with Docker or KubernetesScripting experience (Python, Bash, or Shell)Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university is requiredORSeven (7) years of Software Engineering experienceORFour (4) additional years of Software Engineering experience may be substituted for a degreeClearance Requirement:Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role**This position is contingent on contract award**Why Choose Independent Software: At Independent Software, our people are the mission.
