Principal Software Engineer, UILocation: San Francisco, CA This position will be remote to start and once environment changes will be in the SF Office.Position Overview: The Digital Help & Experience team is looking for a Principal Engineer, UI to join the Content-as-a-Service team whose efforts are part of the digital transformation of the company. Your focus will be on delivering feature-rich front-end web experiences and services for our customers, providing new ways for them to interface with Autodesk reliably and at scale. You will help lead the full-stack development of our support portal, leveraging React, Node.js, Docker, and other innovative web and DevOps technologies.

This requires understanding complex business requirements, back-office systems, and user experience flows, all while delivering a forward-thinking, feature-rich support platform that will have a direct impact on our customers.Responsibilities:Participate in the design and implementation of well-architected and scalable service web architectures through the evaluation, integration and deployment of open source and commercial componentsDesign, code, test, debug and document new and existing functional components to ensure that software meets business, quality and operational needsBuild high quality code following unit testing and test driven developmentProactively and continuously evaluate and address issues related to performance, stability, scalability, and extensibility of the systemsDrive and participate in code and document reviews, providing mentoring where it makes senseCollaborate with peer organizations and support organizations on technical issues and provide guidanceInterpret and translate business needs to technical requirements and accurate estimatesEvaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes to ensure the highest quality and performance is achievedWork with team to troubleshoot code level problems quickly and efficientlyApply deep technical expertise to resolve challenging programming and design problemsFocus on scalability, security and availability of all applications and processesContribute to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable and maintainable softwareContribute to risk identification and risk mitigation strategies associated with the architectureContribute to technical roadmap and technical debt elimination, balancing time, resource, and quality constraints to achieve business and strategic goals and requirementsMinimum Qualifications:BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience8+ years hands-on front-end / UI experience developing scalable, customer facing web and software applications5+ years experience with Javascript, PHP and LAMP stacks3+ years of experience working with React, Angular, or similar web frameworksExperience integrating, designing, and building REST APIs, web servicesExperience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and writing build scriptsExperience deploying apps in AWS or similar cloud infrastructureExperience with Agile/Scrum-based workflows for application developmentThe Ideal Candidate:You are comfortable taking on a technical leadership role in a small teamYou enjoy partnering with UX, QA, product, analytics, and any other involved teams in order to ensure the best final resultYou are a lifelong learner and not intimidated by learning new technologiesYou have a few Drupal projects under your belt, including knowledge of headless implementations, and are ready to do things with Drupal few people have doneYou see the future impact of client-side frameworks like React and are excited to tackle the opportunities and challenges they presentYou think that microservices and well-defined APIs are superior to monolithic applicationsYou are interested in DevOps and the benefits of a strong CI/CD pipelineYou write clean, testable, effective code and help others do it tooYou are comfortable with Agile and participating in sprint ceremonies
