Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Charlotte, NC (Onsite) | Full-Time
Join a leading organization in enterprise and mobile technology as they scale their quality engineering function. This is a unique opportunity to build automation frameworks from the ground up, embed quality into every stage of the SDLC, and leverage AI-assisted tooling to shape how testing is done across a high-availability platform used by major enterprise clients.
What You'll Do
• Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks across UI, API, and backend systems
• Write clean, reusable code for test tools and quality engineering solutions
• Embed shift-left testing practices and CI/CD quality gates into the development lifecycle
• Build and execute automated tests for RESTful APIs and microservices
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to ensure quality is built into every release
• Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with developers on fixes
• Contribute to performance, scalability, and reliability testing
• Maintain clear documentation of test strategies and frameworks
Must-Have Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in software development and test automation
• Strong coding skills in Java, Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Pytest, and/or React JS
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Appium, and Selenium
• Experience with API automation tools (e.g., Rest Assured, Postman, Playwright API Testing)
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge
• Proficiency with Git or similar version control tools
• Strong debugging and analytical skills
Nice-to-Have
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development/testing tools (e.g., LLM-based test generation, intelligent automation, AI-enabled IDEs)
• Experience in high-availability or large-scale enterprise platforms
