Software Engineer - Hybrid

Software EngineerGenesis10 is currently seeking a software engineer for a hybrid contract position with a global financial institution located in Charlotte, NC, Des Moines, IA, and McLean, VA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.This role will support a technology team focused on developing and maintaining innovative solutions that streamline the home lending process. In this role, you will design, build, test, and support UI as well as Java based backend services, REST APIs, and microservices used across lending servicing platforms.

You will have the opportunity to work on an application with complex integration, cloud native microservices, and agentic AI based workflows.Responsibilities:Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives and projects associated with the technology domain, including installation, upgrades, and deployment effortsIdentify opportunities for service quality and availability improvements within the technology domain environmentDesign, code, test, debug, and document for low to moderately complex projects and programsReview and analyze technical assignments or challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternative technology domainsDesign, code, test, debug, and document features and bug fixes using Java and Spring BootBuild and consume RESTful APIs supporting microservices and transaction workflowsLearn and apply engineering standards, secure SDLC practices, and API design best practicesApply database skills (SQL/NoSQL) to write queries, validate data flows, and troubleshoot data issuesUse AI assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate coding and generate test casesBuild agents using Gen AI and agentic AI technologiesCollaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners to support delivery goalsGain exposure to event-driven architecture concepts (Kafka, Pub Sub)Contribute to frontend or UI tasks using Angular or React when opportunities ariseParticipate in Agile ceremonies, including standups, retros, sprint planning, and code reviewsLearn cloud-ready development concepts for Java applications deployed on internal or cloud platformsContribute to generative AI features under guidanceParticipate in an on-call rotation approximately once every six weeks to support production systemsRequirements:4+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education2+ years of Java development experience2+ years of Java unit test case development experience2+ years of JavaScript frameworks experience such as with Angular or React JS0.5 years of AI based development experience using GitHub Copilot/Claude/DevinDesired Skills:1+ years of cloud native micro service application development experience1+ year of experience with developing automated functional testing using BDDGenerative AI and agentic AI experience (Google ADK, Lang Chain, MCP)Prompt engineering experienceExperience developing small AI prototypes such as chatbots, LLM prompts, or automated scriptsSpring boot application development experienceAgile development methodologiesOCP experienceHibernate experienceMongoDB or related NoSQL database experienceOracle SQL experienceKafka or related data streaming technology experience (Kafka, PubSub)Cloud certification from any cloud providersExperience with domain driven design principlesExperience with application non-functional requirements including monitoring (APM tools), logging (Splunk), and distributed tracingExposure to observability or monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, Grafana, AppDynamics)Experience in build and deploy tools such as JenkinsAwareness of CI/CD processes in a large application environmentAbility to communicate clearly, collaborate within a team, and work in a fast-paced learning environmentKnowledge and understanding of home mortgage origination process: applications, processing, and closingPay range: $43.59 - $51.59 per hourOnly candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!
