The IS&T (Information Systems and Technology) organization at Apple builds and maintains mission-critical applications and services that support Apple customers, employees, partners, and products worldwide. IS&T's Legal and Global Security Solutions (LGSS) Team is seeking an experienced full stack developer to join its engineering organization where you will work with a highly talented team of software engineers and product managers to build scalable and secure solutions that empower Apple's legal, security and compliance functions.About LGSS EngineeringWe build and maintain critical tools and services for legal, compliance and security requirements at Apple. We are responsible for eDiscovery solutions for data collection, data preservation, legal holds, knowledge mining as well as law enforcement and privacy compliance tools. We are also responsible for developing key compliance and crisis management tools that protect Apple's assets, people, and regulatory obligations as well as tools for intellectual property enforcement and fraud prevention.
We own the full software engineering lifecycle for all of these solutions from software development and quality assurance to DevOps and sustained production support.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and maintain scalable, reliable and secure web applicationsArchitect robust solutions while considering performance, security and maintainabilityWork with functional leads, business stakeholders, project managers and technical teams in a cross-functional environment to understand requirements and implement solutionsProvide level-of-effort estimations based on thorough research, code study and work prioritization to inform stakeholders of progress and delivery timelinesPerform and ensure rigorous code reviews to ensure high-quality codeMentor and provide technical guidance to other software engineersIdentify root causes of complex technical issues and deliver robust fixesParticipate in operational duty rotations when needed to resolve production issues and critical customer escalationsShare knowledge through presentations, documentation and best practice discussionsIdentify and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and maintainabilityDrive innovation for new and existing solutions through Generative AI and other AI/ML techniquesMinimum Qualifications4+ years of software development experience in Java, with strong object-oriented design skillsExperience in both frontend and backend development, including building and maintaining large-scale, scalable systemsHands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases and proficiency with Unix operating systemsSolid knowledge of application performance optimization techniques and caching solutionsBachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work related experiencePreferred QualificationsStrong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and system design, with proven problem-solving and debugging skillsSolid understanding of software architecture principles including load-balancing, microservices, system observability, security, cryptography, performance, and reliabilityHands-on experience building components, frameworks, and libraries that improve software efficiency and scalability, with a strong appreciation for software quality and testingFamiliarity with AI/ML algorithms and frameworks, AI-powered assistant tools, and experience integrating AI/ML concepts into software design and implementationExperience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), cloud data warehousing (Snowflake), and CI/CD tools, with working experience in Agile development methodologiesApple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
