Software Engineer, Embedded RustGentherm is expanding its business portfolio beyond the traditional automotive sector and into new markets. To support this strategic growth, the Advanced Engineering department is looking for a Software Engineer (Embedded Rust). This engineer will be directly involved in development of the next generation software for our electronics products. This role is instrumental in integration of almost every Gentherm product together. This is a highly interdisciplinary project that requires the successful candidate to demonstrate aptitude in acquiring and assimilating domain knowledge from diverse scientific and engineering areas. The role will focus on supporting software development for the control of thermal and pneumatic comfort systems into products across diverse industries, including automotive seating, commercial trucks, two-wheelers, and medical applications. Whether through enhancing comfort or delivering measurable health benefits, our goal is to provide best-in-class user experiences and outcomes.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesMigrate existing embedded C-based software modules into RustDesign and implement new drivers and software modules in RustCollaborate on software test plans, execute unit and HIL test casesExpand our usage of open-source software and toolingCollaborate with cross-functional and cross-regional teams working in an agile development environmentAssist engineering and product teams in defining product specificationsWork with systems team to establish best-in-class software and test requirementsFollow software development process to ensure quality standards are metDevelop test cases and automated testing based on defined software requirements and designMinimum QualificationsBSc Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering4+ years embedded development experience2+ years embedded Rust experienceHas open-source contributions to embedded Rust ecosystemExperience with TI MSPM0 or NXP microcontrollersExperience navigating detailed electronics schematics and data sheetsDemonstrated problem-solving, data analysis, and troubleshooting skillsStrong communication and presentation skills with cross-functional teamsAbility to thrive in fast-paced, multi-project environmentsPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of communication protocols: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, BluetoothKnowledge of Python or another scripting languageWorking knowledge of modeling tools such as Matlab/SimulinkExperience with embedded development kitsExperience working in distributed repositories and managing merge/pull requests in GitHub/GitLabHistory analyzing and parsing data to develop technical insights and make decisionsBasic project management skills, including planning and organization, decision making, problem solving, prioritizingAbility to prepare and present technical written reports and other documents to peers and managementNice to KnowTravel: Possible (<5%)Competencies: Deliver Results, Drive Change, Build Capability, Cultivate InnovationGentherm is committed to compliance with its obligations under all applicable state and federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination.
