Software Engineer - Early Career

Location: Longmont, Colorado

Overview & Responsibilities:

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full‑time early‑career Software Engineer for the NextGen Geo (NGG) OPIR Program. You will join a small, high‑performing Product Team led by a Scrum Master and Product Owner, support daily Scrum Meetings, Team Demos, and monthly Staff Calls. Work under general supervision in support of larger team goals. Design, develop, maintain, and test code written primarily in C++, interpret complex system requirements, and obtain a government security clearance. This position is at a facility requiring special access.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Programming experience or relevant coursework in C++/C, Java, and/or Python.
  • Experience developing maintainable code and performing unit, integration, and regression testing.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with Agile process.
  • Linux OS background/experience developing in a Linux environment.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages.
  • Experience working in high‑stakes environments and executing critical deliverables in a fast‑paced setting.
  • TS/SCI clearance.
  • Self‑driven, strong work ethic with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software products.

Benefits and Compensation

Annual base salary range for this position in Colorado: $62,700 – $110,630 (excluding major metropolitan areas). Salary may vary by final work location.

Work Schedule Information
