Software Engineer (Data & AI)

Location: Home, Maryland (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated, forward-thinking Software Engineer to support the Fraud and Prevention Services (FPS) program. This role involves contributing to new initiatives, adapting to evolving requirements, and learning emerging tools and technologies. The position is a key member of a high-performing technical team focused on enhancing the value delivered to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the evaluation and integration of AI capabilities to enhance data quality, fraud analytics, and automation within the Databricks environment.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to operationalize machine learning models, ensuring robust, scalable deployment within AWS environments.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy ETL solutions.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers to modernize the edits ingestion pipeline, leveraging Java, Python, and Big Data technologies within an AWS cloud environment.
  • Work with core AWS services.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience. Candidates must be eligible to obtain & maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Technical Skills

  • Experience developing, testing, and supporting ETL processes.
  • Proficiency in Java and J2EE architecture, including frameworks such as Spring Boot and Hibernate.
  • Experience implementing or supporting AI workflows and AI development of Agents and MCP Servers using Python libraries.
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate development, testing, and deployment.
  • Experience integrating ML-driven components into production pipelines or data engineering workflows.
  • Experience with Snowflake and Databricks platforms, including data engineering workflows and optimizing queries.
  • Background in backend development with a focus on building scalable, secure server-side applications.

General Skills

  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Communication skills for coordinating with internal development teams and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Agile and SAFe methodologies.
  • Must be eligible to obtain & maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the healthcare industry, preferably with Medicare or Medicaid data.
  • Data Science experience and programming skills in Python or R.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Test Rails.
  • Experience deploying AI Agents and MCP Servers using AWS services.
  • Familiarity with the Databricks Genie environment.
  • Understanding of Responsible AI principles in regulated environments.
  • Active or prior Public Trust or DoD clearance preferred.
