Software Engineer PositionThis position is for a software engineer to join a small development team. This engineer will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the software development life cycle including requirements definition and analysis, coding and implementation, system test, and documentation generation and support. The ideal candidate will have strong problem solving skills, and must be able to communicate effectively and work in a collaborative team environment. This includes being experienced in recommending creative and sound technical solutions as well as reviewing and critiquing proposed technical solutions.
Ability to self-motivate and work independently is a must.The program is made up of CONUS and OCONUS teams who regularly interact across varying time zones. As a result, the candidate must have excellent communication skills and be flexible with regards to teamwork and tasking. A demonstrated ability to perform in cross-functional teams to achieve results in a timely manner is desired.This is a technical position to support a wide variety of mission activities performed both locally and OCONUS. Candidates should have a background in software engineering best practices, object-oriented concepts and design, test driven development and unit testing frameworks like JUnit, Java build environments, library dependency management, configuration management and integrated development environments (IDE) like VS Code, Eclipse, or IntelliJ.Primary Responsibilities:Actively participate in requirements identification, definition and analysisCreate detailed design documentationDevelop and test software to include writing meaningful unit testsPropose changes to current Java infrastructureParticipate in code reviews with peersPrepare and produce software components that are deployable with associated deployment documentationSupport production systems by helping to troubleshoot issues by analyzing log files and associated dataClearance Requirement: Must have an active and in-scope TS/SCI With Poly to be consideredRequired Skills, Experience, and Education:Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or related subject and at least 8 years of experience OR Master's degree in software engineering, computer science, or related subject and at least 6 years OR 12 years relevant work experience with a combination of college coursework and certifications in lieu of degreeProficient in the following technologies and programming languages:Java, Java EE, Java Secure Sockets, Spring, JPA or HibernateTomcat (or similar app server)Experience using REACT or other JAVASCRIPT technologies - with additional experience using HTML, CSS, Building and Consuming RESTful web servicesScripting languages (Python and/or Bash)Agile software development and tools like JiraMySQL database (or similar relational database experience)git (experience with version control systems)VS Code, Eclipse, or IntelliJ IDEAnt with Ivy or comparable build tools like Maven or GradleLinux (RHEL/Rocky) command line experienceCloud development experience helpfulDesired Qualifications (one or more preferred):Willingness to travel OCONUS to support software deployments and upgradesExperience with cloud development including storage technologies, serverless functions and accessing cloud APIsExperience with Android app development and security best practicesExperience with automated test toolsFamiliarity with Linux system administration (RHEL/Rocky)If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
