Software EngineerLocation: Austin, TX (Onsite)Pay Range: $50/hr - $65/hrWhat's the Job?The primary responsibilities of this position are to work with NI customers, sales personnel, engineering teams, alliance partners, and contract manufacturers to define, document, design, deploy and sustain NI products tailored to meet specific customer requirements for large scale turnkey engineering solutions. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding NI products and system level design.Core Job Responsibilities:Working in a cross-functional development team developing custom test systems for prime ADG customersDeveloping instrument drivers, test sequences, and applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for a wide range of NI and third-party test equipmentInterfacing with Systems Architects and Electrical Engineering team to provide strategic design implementation guidance to best enable testability of our systemsProviding handoff and direct support of software test applications to customer engineering teams, including developing necessary documentationThe role will include:Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners and suppliers in support of designing, implementing and sustaining custom solutionsDefining and implementing system test plans, managing milestones and holding reviews to assure systems meet requirements and readiness for deploymentVerification of the developed tests to ensure compliance with and coverage of requirementsTraveling as needed domestically and abroad in support of project objectivesExperience and Skill RequirementsMinimum Requirements:US Citizen ONLY, ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD ClearancesB. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.Minimum 5 years of experience developing test software using LabVIEW/TestStandExperience developing automated test software using PXI chassis and interfacing with some of the following: analog I/O cards, digital I/O cards, DMMs, oscilloscopes, National Instruments switching and signal routing systems, data acquisition devices, power supplies, RF analyzers, and RF power sensorsKnowledge of hardware interfaces, such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial communication protocolsUnderstanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#, Python)Strong work ethic and drive to succeedDemonstrated ability to:Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environmentProblem-solve effectively - diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutionsTake initiative, be a self-starter, and work independentlyQuickly learn applicable technology, systems, and productsPreferred Skills:Understanding of electrical engineering, electronics, and computer architecturesExperience developing and using system electrical schematicsCross-platform development (Windows/Linux) experienceNational Instruments Certification in LabVIEWExperience developing in Python, C# or other high-level languagesExperience providing direct technical support to customersComments: US Citizen ONLY, ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD Clearances.
