Software Development Engineer 1

Our client, a technology organization building AI-enabled developer platforms, is seeking a Software Development Engineer 1 to join their team. As a Software Development Engineer 1, you will be part of the DevOps and Platform Engineering function supporting teams that deliver reliable software at scale. The ideal candidate will have a strong drive to improve developer productivity, a practical mindset for production reliability and security, and the ability to collaborate across engineering and operations to turn AI/ML ideas into dependable automation.

Location: Austin, TX (5 days onsite every week)

Pay Range: $55

What's the Job?

• Design, build, and own DevOps platforms and applications that leverage AI/ML to improve developer productivity, reliability, and security.
• Architect, implement, and maintain solutions using modern DevOps, MLOps, and AIOps tools and practices, including LLMs, vector search, and AI-assisted automation.
• Develop and enhance AI-powered features for CI/CD, observability, and incident management, including intelligent alerting, anomaly detection, and automated remediation workflows.
• Lead and contribute to automation scripts, tools, and services using Python (preferred) and other languages (TypeScript/JavaScript, Bash, Groovy) to integrate with REST and AI APIs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software engineering, SRE, security, data, and platform teams) to define requirements, design scalable solutions, and drive adoption of DevOps and AI/ML best practices.

What's Needed?

• Minimum hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Azure, and GitHub Actions.
• Practical experience implementing CI/CD and delivery workflows using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins, and containerization/orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience applying AI in DevOps, such as LLM-powered PR summarization, test generation, issue triage, anomaly detection on logs/metrics, and chatops for incident response.
• Strong scripting and automation skills, with proficiency in Python; experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, Bash, or Groovy is an asset.
• Solid understanding of source control and code review workflows, including GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket/Gerrit, trunk-based development, code ownership, and policy-as-code enforcement.
