Software Design Engineering Scientist AssociateDesign, develop, test, document, and maintain production and R&D software used in data collection, signal processing, mapping, and navigation for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) at Applied Research Laboratories (ARL).ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop software applications.Maintain and test new and legacy code.Create supporting documentation for software and systemsParticipate in data collection exercises, data management, and analysis.Potential travel to domestic offsite test events, 2-4 times per year.Other related functions as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or other related field.Demonstrated ability to define and document complex software applications using object oriented data structures.Applicant must have a demonstrated ability to follow coding standards and testing standardsApplicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized, capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks, and managing their time. This position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving, sound engineering judgment, and good communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients.

Selected applicant is subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at level appropriate to project requirements of the positionPreferred QualificationsDesire to research and develop products using new and innovative software technologies.Experience with unit testing, version control, and documenting development of software.Demonstrated knowledge in some of the following: C#, Python, JavaScript, C/C++, Java, web application development, Git, cloud computing (AWS or Azure).Graphic design and/or UX design experience.Prior work experience in professional or research-oriented software development.Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills.Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with at least a 3.2 in relevant coursework.Salary Range$88,500-$120,000+/negotiable depending on qualificationsWorking ConditionsStandard office conditionsRepetitive use of a keyboard at a workstationUse of manual dexteritySome weekend, evening and holiday workElectrical & mechanical hazardsPossible interstate/intrastate travelRequired MaterialsResume/CV3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisorLetter of interestUnofficial college transcript
