School Social Worker
The position involves supporting students and staff within special education programs. The School Social Worker will provide social-emotional support for students in the school setting. They will conduct individual social casework evaluation services to identify social and emotional problems of students as part of evaluations. Participation in the development of evaluations and annual review conferences is expected. Engagement in professional development activities to promote a positive social and emotional climate is essential. Individual and group social work services will be provided to students as specified in their plans. Knowledge of resources available to students through various channels is necessary. Ongoing assessments and progress reports for each student must be maintained. The School Social Worker will serve as a liaison between school personnel and families. Collaboration with community mental health and social service agencies is essential. The role includes being a resource to district staff on academic and behavioral concerns within the support framework. Assistance in the planning of in-service experiences is required when appropriate. The maintenance of records and reports as may be necessary is expected. Crisis Intervention services will be provided to students and staff when appropriate. Assistance in the implementation of support systems is part of responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned based on need. This is not a supervisory position and does not involve evaluating colleagues.
