Job Description

The Psychological Counselor will:

1. Perform bio-psychosocial evaluations using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling.
2. Provide feedback regarding consultations findings and recommendations to other medical providers and service members' command when appropriate.
3. Make behavioral health diagnoses as appropriate in accordance with Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association, 5th Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR) criteria or other more current accepted standards.
4. Provide individual and group therapy using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and client-centered therapy.
5. Work as an inter-disciplinary team member to develop specific clinical pathways or best practice programs for targeted patient groups such as patients with acute stress symptoms and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
