Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
- Valid Ohio High School teaching license/certificate in Integrated Social Studies, levels 7 -12
- Knowledge of research and literature on current reading and writing theory and practice
- Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Available for flexible scheduling
- Flexible, resourceful, enthusiastic, and high energy level
- Must have a valid driver's license and personal transportation
- Willingness to pursue or have a license/certificate in work based learning
Responsibilities:
- Be willing to create engaging instructional activities that go beyond textbook learning
- Have the ability to creatively assist students who are faced with significant personal or learning challenges to increase students' achievement and morale
- Be competent in all areas of Ohio Graduation Assessments
- Be committed to ongoing professional learning and growth
- Be willing to use technology effectively in the classroom
- Be willing and able to team with colleagues and college faculty
- Commit to students and the ultimate goal of graduation
- In collaboration with counselors and teachers, hold parent/student conferences on a quarterly basis
- Maintain accurate data and records to document all activities and services provided
- Analyze quarterly grades, district assessments, and end-of-course data for student progress
- Mentor and follow through with the identified students over a sustained period of time
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with students, school personnel, and families
- All other duties as assigned by district administration and/or building principal

The Early College Academy is a charter school sponsored by the Education Service Center of Central Ohio, whose mission is to engage disenfranchised students, low income youth, first-generation college goers, English language learners, students of color, and other young people underrepresented in higher education in a curriculum that will enable them to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and an associate's degree or up to two years of credit towards a bachelor's degree, tuition free. Early College Academy is on a 4 day work week, Monday – Thursday. Fridays are optional opportunity to work for additional pay by tutoring students, contacting parents/guardians/foster parents. This is an opportunity to work on assignments, career counseling, and to close the academic gap.
Undergraduate Certificate degree preferred. Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
