About the role
Our client in the payments space is building out a new developer marketing function and is hiring a Senior Social Media Manager to own strategy and execution for developer‑facing social channels . You’ll translate APIs, SDKs, and technical use cases into channel‑native content that earns attention and drives measurable engagement and adoption among software engineers.
What you’ll do
- Own the developer social ecosystem end‑to‑end across YouTube, X (Twitter), and TikTok —from strategy, editorial calendar, and publishing cadences to analytics, optimization, and growth.
- Build a channel‑native content program : Shorts/Reels/TikTok how‑tos, YouTube tutorials and livestreams, code‑adjacent demos, product tips, and release explainers aimed at developers and technical decision makers.
- Partner closely with DevRel/Developer Advocacy , Product Marketing, Docs, and PMs to amplify tutorials, SDK/CLI releases, changelogs, and “what’s new” in ways that resonate with developers.
- Establish and evolve editorial standards (tone, voice, tagging/UTM taxonomy, accessibility, and community guidelines) tailored to a technical audience.
- Lead community management : proactive engagement, Q&A routing with SMEs, social listening, moderation, and escalation playbooks (including basic crisis/issue comms).
- Stand up a lightweight creator/advocate program (e.g., guest engineers, community maintainers) and coordinate with design/video for asset production.
- Pilot paid/boosted experiments to accelerate learning on new formats, audiences, and messages; A/B test thumbnails, hooks, and CTAs.
- Instrument full‑funnel analytics : audience growth quality, watch time/retention, engagement rate, traffic to docs, sandbox signups, and assisted conversions from social into developer journeys.
- Ensure content aligns with platform best practices and industry norms for a regulated/financial context (claims, disclosures, data privacy, accessibility).
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years managing social for technical audiences (DevRel, Dev Marketing, or technical B2B SaaS); proven ownership of YouTube and at least one short‑form video channel (TikTok/Shorts/Reels).
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical topics (APIs, SDKs, webhooks, auth, CLI, sample apps) into clear, compelling narratives—without needing to write production code.
- Fluency with social and video tooling : YouTube Studio/Analytics, social schedulers (e.g., Sprout/Hootsuite/Buffer), basic creative tools (e.g., Premiere/CapCut/Descript, Figma/Canva), and UTM/GA‑based reporting.
- Strong editorial instincts (hooks, pacing, visual systems), data‑driven optimization , and experimentation mindset.
- Cross‑functional program management chops and comfort collaborating with engineers and product leaders.
- Excellent writing and on‑camera presence a plus.
Nice to have
- Experience in payments/fintech or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with developer communities (GitHub, Stack Overflow, Discord) and livestreaming/podcasting formats.
- Exposure to SEO for video (YouTube metadata, playlists, pillars) and basic AEO/GEO awareness for developer discoverability alongside docs and tutorials (beneficial given the org’s broader marketing goals).
