Monroe County Health Department is seeking a Social Counselor 2!

Join the Tennessee Department of Health as a Social Counselor supporting families and children in Monroe County. In this role, you will help advance our mission to protect, promote, and improve the health and prosperity of all Tennesseans—especially the well‑being of women, children, and families. This position is ideal for someone who is committed to connecting families with resources, preventing child abuse and neglect, and supporting children with special medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in preventing and reducing child abuse, neglect, and developmental delays.
• Coordinate medical and supportive services for children with special health care needs.
• Assess family needs and connect them with appropriate community resources and programs.
• Build trust and rapport with clients, health providers, and community agencies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow program guidelines and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• One year of professional experience in:
• — Health care for children or adolescents, or
• — Social or psychological counseling
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Solid organizational and time‑management abilities
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with clients and community partners
• Commitment to serving diverse populations with empathy and professionalism
• Starting salary: $3,595 per month.
