Position: Small Animal Internist – Veterinary Specialty Center Tucson

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Board Certified or Residency‑Trained Veterinary Internist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high‑quality veterinary care and possess excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with clients. The role works alongside experienced veterinarians, technicians, and support staff, and partners closely with the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager.

Pay

  • Base salary $250,000 – $300,000 USD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups.
  • Communicate with and educate clients.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and perform pharmacy duties.
  • Promote teamwork and staff efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Hospital Manager to set weekly priorities.
  • Review protocols for daily hospital operations.
  • Attend daily rounds and monitor cases to uphold standards.
  • Participate in practice management updates and training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution.
  • 1 year rotational internship in small animal medicine, surgery, or ER.
  • Completed a 3‑year AVMA‑approved residency.
  • Current state veterinary license.
  • DEA registration obtained and maintained.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality veterinary care.
  • Capacity for moderate physically demanding work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Board certification.
  • 2–5 years post‑residency experience.
  • Clinical knowledge in cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological, etc.
  • Problem‑solving and business acumen.
  • Professionalism and constructive communication.
  • Commitment to continuing education.
