Slitter OperatorLaser Design & Die - Shreveport, LA 71107OverviewSalary Range $31,200.00 - $31,200.00 Salary/year Position Type Full TimeDescriptionTitle: Slitter OperatorDepartment: Laser, Design and Die (LDD)Location: 1104 Hawn Ave., Shreveport, LAWage Category: Non-ExemptReport To: Production SupervisorOverview: The Slitter Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining slitting equipment to ensure materials are cut accurately and efficiently in accordance with specifications. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and basic mathematical skills. The operator plays a critical role in maintaining production quality, equipment functionality, and workplace safety.Duties include, but are not limited to:Machine Setup and OperationSet up slitter machines, ensuring proper operation, accurate rewind, footage, cores, and blade sizes.Adjust roll/material guides, brake, tension, and laydown pressure as required.Thread material through the machine initially by hand, then jog it through the cutting anvil.Thread sheeting through the slitter and verify dimensions using a ruler, tape measure, and measurement counter.Lower slitter knives to achieve proper cutting pressure based on material specifications.Operate the slitter machine to cut materials according to job requirements.Production and PerformanceApply basic mathematical skills to determine the most efficient material usage and cutting methods.Meet established productivity and quality standards for each job and material type.Quality Control and MonitoringMonitor machine operation and product output to ensure specifications are met.Observe the slitter machine and immediately report mechanical or quality issues to the Production Supervisor.Preventive Maintenance and Equipment CarePerform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.Clean machines at the start of and throughout each shift, including using an air gun to remove debris.Clean blade holders and prepare equipment for daily operation.Perform startup and shutdown procedures on the slitter machine, laser machine, and associated computer systems.Safety and HousekeepingMaintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with housekeeping and safety standards.Follow all safety procedures and guidelines during machine operation and maintenance.Perform other duties as assigned to support production and operational needs.Required Operating EquipmentSlitter MachineHydraulic Shop PressCore Cutter MachineLaser MachineRulerTape MeasureMeasurement CounterMinimum Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods.Frequent bending, lifting, and walking.Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms for operating machinery, handling materials, and cleaning equipment.Ability to perform repetitive motions consistently throughout the work shift.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Previous machine operation experience preferred.Must be visually impaired or legally blind; sufficient vision required to safely and effectively perform job duties.
