Slitter OperatorThe Slitter Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, setup, and maintenance of slitting equipment while ensuring quality production standards are met or exceeded. This position requires technical expertise in machine operation, quality control, and safety procedures. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality standards and safety protocols.
This position reports to the Shift Supervisor.Key Responsibilities:Set up, operate, and monitor slitting equipment to meet production goals while maintaining safety standards and quality specificationsExecute efficient job changeovers and ensure safe handling of slit rolls/materials according to proceduresPerform regular quality control inspections and maintain proper material segregation/labelingMonitor and adjust machine settings to maintain optimal performance and product consistencyInput and track accurate production data in PRISM system, including waste, WIP, time codes, and raw materialsIdentify and report quality issues promptly, implementing corrective actions as neededParticipate in preventative maintenance activities and basic troubleshooting of equipmentMeet or exceed plant EFM (Equipment and Factory Management) goalsMaintain clean and organized work area, following proper housekeeping proceduresCommunicate effectively with team members regarding mechanical issues, defective materials, and shift informationOther duties as assignedEducation & Experience:High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferredPrevious manufacturing experience a plusDemonstrated stable work historyRequired Skills:Strong mechanical aptitudeAttention to detail and quality controlProblem-solving and troubleshooting abilitiesAbility to read and interpret technical specificationsBasic computer skillsAbility to work independentlyAbility to read and use measuring toolsStrong communication and teamwork skillsBasic mathematical skillsTime management and organizational abilitiesAdditional Requirements:Must be 18 years of ageMust pass pre-employment assessmentDrug screening requiredBackground check requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Machine operation and adjustment of Slitting equipmentProblem-solving and troubleshooting skillsStrong communication skills (verbal and written)Ability to work independentlyDetail-oriented with strong quality focusDecision-making and analytical skillsManufacturing safety protocolsEquipment maintenance and troubleshootingAnalytical thinkingQuality control standardsMaterial handling proceduresData entry and computer useMeasurement and calibrationQuality inspectionTeam collaborationPhysical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:Must be able to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 poundsCapacity to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to climb, kneel, bend, stoop, reach and squatManual dexterity for grasping, machine operation, and fine motor skillsVisual acuity including color discriminationUse of ladders and other equipmentAbility to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacks certificationsWork Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with potential exposure to:Noise levels above 85 dBOperation of complex machinerySolvents, fumes and inksVariable TemperaturesMust be able to work flexible shiftsMay require overtime, weekends, and holidays.An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (qualifying hours vary by location). 6pm to 6amAdditional Internal Requirements:Must demonstrate Core ValuesMust be in good standing with no disciplinary action or attendance issuesPerformer or higher on last performance reviewPrintpack is proudly an equal-opportunity employer.
