Slitter Operator - 2nd Shift

Slitter OperatorResponsible for all activities associated with running the slitter, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.Duties and responsibilities include entering information into computers to set machine for order changes, verifying accuracy of information in computer, executing order changes, cross checking board being produced with the corrugator dry end lineup or order scheduling computer display to ensure it is the proper board test, size, scores are properly positioned and have the correct depth, color, and coating, visually observing and physically checking board for quality, performing soak tests as needed, setting slitter to bring up the next run as necessary to avoid overruns or underruns, setting-up tear-tape machine and preprint as needed, communicating messages to the wet end regarding necessary adjustments, clearing jams safely and assisting in correcting other problems, turning in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs, being proactive in the maintenance of equipment, adhering to production schedule, making recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals, reporting any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor, assisting in the training of dry end personnel, complying with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping, and additional duties may be assigned by management.Experience preferred in a manufacturing environment. Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters. Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.

Able to apply concepts of high school math. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations. Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation, product layouts and production specifications, product quality specifications, and quality standards.

May be required to obtain and maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.Physical demands include standing, walking, talking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
