Construction Laborer

Responsible for assisting with other craft workers in physical labor on jobsites while maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site and supporting the overall project. Responsibilities include promoting and complying with all Company and safety policies and procedures, completing all required Safety documentation, signaling operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to load, offload, push and pull, leveling earth to fine grade specifications using shovel or other hand tool, mixing concrete or grout using portable mixer, smoothing and finishing freshly poured concrete using float, trowel or screed, positioning, joining, aligning and connecting pumps, motors and other mechanical or metal parts, mopping, brushing or spreading paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection, spraying materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint or stucco through hose to clean, coat or seal surfaces, applying caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices, grinding, sanding or polishing surfaces such as concrete and steel, using abrasive tools or machines, performing tasks involving use of hands and tools such as torqueing/tensioning bolts and studs, assembling metal parts, building bolt cages, vibrating concrete, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, and demolitions, cleanup, use of jackhammers, etc., providing assistance on the site as needed, performing care and maintenance of assigned tools, performing physical labor on construction sites, and may be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and six to twelve months of related experience in construction or equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge, skills and abilities required include taking reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles, reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, adding and subtracting two-digit numbers and multiplying and dividing with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units, weight measurement and volume, ability to understand units of force, pressure and torque and apply appropriate tooling adjustments for each, common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form, and ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards.
