Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert for creation and delivery of On‑The‑Job manufacturing technical training for Machining & Quality competencies throughout the Asheville facility.
- Partner with business leaders to assess current and future training needs and institute training plans for new and existing employees.
- Develop and maintain standardized technical curriculum for all employees at the Pratt & Whitney Asheville site.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance and Operations teams to develop, maintain and deploy training materials.
- Implement and manage a Learning Management System for various on‑site departments.
- Conduct assessments to determine necessary technical proficiencies and design transferable training programs for hourly employees.
- Facilitate and deliver technical training through in‑person, online, and self‑directed methods.
- Coordinate with third‑party vendors to provide training on new and existing equipment, processes, and competencies.
- Establish standard work and best practices that can be leveraged across the business.
- Proactively inform management of training status, gaps, and options to close those gaps.
- Actively participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to meet Training Department objectives.
- Coordinate the Asheville onboarding process with Asheville‑Buncombe Technical Community College and relevant Pratt & Whitney teams.
- Ensure compliance with training documentation procedures and record‑maintenance requirements.
- Assist Operations & Operational Excellence teams in related areas as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with at least 10 years of relevant experience, OR an Advanced Degree with at least 7 years of related experience.
- Onsite. Willingness to support pre‑ and post‑shift training, weekends, and alternate schedules.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- 3+ years of experience in technical training and certification as a Train‑the‑Trainer.
- Demonstrated knowledge of lean principles.
- Proven ability to coordinate and complete project objectives on time.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Advanced Blueprint interpretation and GD&T skills.
- Experience designing, writing technical content, and evaluating deliverables under aggressive timelines in a manufacturing setting.
- Passion for learning new equipment and systems quickly, and translating business requirements into employee‑friendly training materials.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
