A leading global market maker is building a greenfield Data Operations and Reliability team in Chicago.

As systematic trading scales over longer horizons, data correctness and freshness directly dictate execution. Rather than handling pure operational support, your mandate is to view operational gaps as software defects and build the automation, tooling, or agentic workflows to eliminate them permanently.

• The Balance: Roughly 70% engineering and 30% operations to start, with operational load actively shrinking as you automate.
• The Tech: Python (Pandas, PyArrow, Spark), Databricks, Delta Lake, and high-throughput pipelines.
• The Scope: End-to-end data pipeline observability, onboarding multi-asset datasets, landing and mapping raw feeds, and building automated data-quality checks.
• The Profile: 3+ years in Data Engineering, SRE, or Software Engineering in high-performance environments. Strong Python, an obsession with automating messy ingestions (CSVs, PDFs, APIs) and a solid academic background. xhqgsiq
