A well-established engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Project Civil Engineer / Project Manager to join its Houston team. This is a site development role focused primarily on commercial and private development projects, including retail, office, healthcare, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use developments.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for civil design, project management, permitting, client communication, and mentoring junior staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and permitting of site development projects from concept through construction documents
- Design and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control
- Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and client expectations
- Develop and maintain client relationships and assist with business development
- Prepare and review technical reports, feasibility studies, stormwater documentation, utility reports, and specifications
- Perform and oversee hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and SWPPP preparation
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 6-15+ years of site/civil land development experience
- Background working on commercial development projects
- Experience with grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater, and site layout
- Familiarity with local permitting and development requirements
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to oversee and mentor less-experienced staff
- Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and stormwater design
