Team Lead For Individual Employment Claims

We are looking for a seasoned Team Lead to oversee our department dedicated to individual employment claims. This opportunity is well-suited for a senior-level employment attorney who pairs legal acumen with leadership and operational oversight. The role involves managing a team of lawyers engaged in litigation and complex settlement negotiations related to employment matters. It's a strategic leadership position with influence over case success, attorney development, and the broader trajectory of the firm.

Primary Duties

  • Lead a group of attorneys managing individual employment litigation cases
  • Supervise all phases of case development, from intake and strategic planning to courtroom proceedings
  • Personally review new cases to determine legal viability and guide direction
  • Manage the drafting of legal documents including motions, pleadings, and discovery materials
  • Take an active role in or oversee settlement negotiations, mediation sessions, and trial preparation
  • Coordinate with legal support, administrative staff, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth case handling
  • Provide coaching and support to attorneys, promoting excellence in legal practice and client relations
  • Track team performance, maintain quality standards, and introduce efficiencies in case strategy and management
  • Partner with senior leadership to identify and execute opportunities for departmental advancement

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in employment law, with significant involvement in individual litigation (plaintiff-side preferred)
  • Proven leadership experience in managing attorneys or legal teams
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law issues including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, and wage-related claims
  • Strong background in litigation, including discovery, motion work, client communication, and negotiation
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and organizational capabilities
  • Skilled in balancing multiple complex matters while ensuring exceptional work quality
  • Results-driven and solution-focused, with a collaborative and performance-oriented approach
