VUSN Simulation SpecialistVUSN supports the development of innovative academic educational programs within the school which align strategically with other Vanderbilt University initiatives to address national priorities to promote, protect, educate students and play a vital role in developing clinicians who will provide access to health care for people everywhere.Simulation Setup, Execution and TakedownPrepares for, operates and breaks down simulationso Reviews Simulation Center calendar of events and prepares accordingly.o Ensure proper rooms, equipment (simulators, task trainers, etc.), supplies, and moulage are prepared and ready on time for simulations, skills and OSCEs.o Tests simulation and OSCE equipment and supplies to ensure proper functioning.o Works with VUIT staff to ensure SimCapture is ready and functions and records (when applicable).o Operates sessions.o Creates and maintains a safe lab environment, and functions with an awareness of safety at all times.o Assure proper utilization of equipment, supplies, services and materials in a cost-effective manner.o Resets the room for the next simulation in a timely manner.Programs and operates patient simulators, audio/visual systems, and software.o Operates and programs patient simulators, audio/visual equipment and computer software for simulations.o Acts as the voice for mannequins and others in the simulation using a script.o Troubleshoots technical issues and assists faculty during simulations.Equipment & Technology ManagementReceives regular training on the use and upkeep of all technology in the Simulation Center.Oversees equipment maintenance and repair schedules with the proper vendor in collaboration with the Program Manager, ensuring all resources are optimal.In collaboration with the Program Manager, maintains warranty documentation and tracks equipment lifespan.Supply ManagementSelects appropriate supplies for each simulation, skills or OSCE and disposes of them properly after the experience.Tracks and optimizes supply utilization, ensuring proper inventory levels in collaboration with the Program Manager.Stocks and inventories supplies and equipment as shipments arrive.Tours & DemonstrationsConducts lab tours and demonstrations for faculty, students, and external visitors.Additional ResponsibilitiesPerforms additional duties as necessary.Supervisory RelationshipsThis position does not have supervisory responsibilities.Education and CertificationsAssociate's Degree is required.Bachelor's Degree is preferred.Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred.Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Experience and SkillsTwo years of experience in a related field.Experience with biomedical technology and biomedical equipment preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and human physiology preferred.Proficiency utilizing computer software (Microsoft Office, Adobe), laptop computers and tablets is required.Required SkillsCorporate Travel Management - VUDiscretion - VUEditing - VUEvent Planning - VUExpense Management - VUProcess Improvement - VUProject Coordination - VUPurchasing - VURecords Management - VURelationship Management - VUStrategic Prioritization - VUAbout UsAt Vanderbilt University, our work - regardless of title or role - is in service to an important and noble mission in which every member of our community serves in advancing knowledge and transforming lives on a daily basis.
