Simulation Lab CoordinatorACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This requires the employee to be a professing Christian and be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.Coordinates operational aspects of the simulation labs within the School of Nursing including equipment, technology, supplies, and simulation processes and procedures. Collaborates closely with faculty and staff to support and maintain high-quality simulation and skills based learning experiences.This is a reduced full-time exempt position with full-time hours throughout the academic year (August - May) and reduced hours during break (holidays) and summer.Basic responsibilities:Coordinate day to day activities and services for the simulation labs within the School of Nursing.Maintain equipment, supplies, and technology within the labs.Assist with achieving standards for best practice in simulation.Create, maintain, upgrade, and supervise the Standard Operating Procedures and associated work instructions of the labs.Maintain an active role in supporting faculty, staff, students, and the department.Position requires flexibility in work hours to support program sessions, special events, and departmental initiatives.
The weekly schedule will be adjusted as necessary to accommodate early mornings or evenings.Other duties as assignedEssential duties:Coordinate day to day activities and services for the simulation labs within the School of Nursing.Collaborates with appropriate individuals for scheduling use of simulation labs and nursing skills labsSet up and break down of simulation equipment and scenariosSchedule and organize special eventsMaintain the labs to promote a positive imageMaintain equipment, supplies, and technology within the labs:Maintain departmental supplies and oversee inventory to support ongoing and future activitiesCompletes a semi-annual inventoryCommunicate supply and inventory needs for orderingAssist with software upgrades and interface with ACU's Information Technology and Networking departments and vendor technology/supportMaintain simulation multimedia equipment, software, and hardwarePerform simple repairs and maintenance of equipment to keep them in good working orderCommunicate with vendor support to address equipment issuesMaintain computers and assigned software within the labsAssist with achieving standards for best practice for simulation:Assist faculty with meeting best practice standards for simulationConsistent communication with course faculty to ensure simulations are meeting objectivesAssists faculty in the development, implementation, evaluation, and refinement of scenarios for simulation experiences and lab activitiesEvaluate and improve simulation procedures in alignment with the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL)Comply with accreditation and regulation requirements for simulationCreate, maintain, upgrade, and supervise the Standard Operating Procedures and associated work instructions of the labs:Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the correct and safe use of labs and equipmentUpdate procedures and instructions for lab and equipment useOrient students, faculty, and staff to the simulation labs and associated policies, procedures, and instructionsMaintain an active role in supporting faculty, staff, students, and the department:Assist faculty with the use of simulation technologyProvide assistance to students in the simulation lab in accordance with knowledge and educational levelDevelop and maintain competence in simulationActively participate in departmental meetingsActively participate in recruiting efforts for the departmentMaintain electronic and physical databases of simulationsProfessional development requirements:Skills:Strong computer skills including the ability to troubleshootAbility to work with Microsoft Suite of Products, Adobe products, simulation software, audiovisual software, network, and IT environmentsExperience working with simulation equipment and technology preferredTraining required:Gaumard equipment and technology trainingLaerdal simulator trainingGoogle suiteSoftware trainingAbility to learn ACU systems, including, but not limited to: Expense reporting system(s); WorkdayQualifications:Professional:Associates or Bachelor's (preferred) degree in NursingActive, unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in the state of TexasAt least three years of RN experience, with medical-surgical experience preferredCertification in simulation preferredExperience in simulation preferredPersonal:Excellent organizational skillsCreativity and flexibility in designing innovative approaches to solving problemsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPhysical:Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 30 pounds on a regular basisSubject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, or reaching for extended periods of timeAbility to work a flexible schedule (early mornings, late evenings, and possible weekends may be required)ACU does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, sex, disability, genetic information, national or ethnic origin in employment opportunities, in keeping with applicable state and federal law.ACU is committed to maintaining a safe and secure campus environment and protecting the university's financial and physical assets.
