Position Purpose

Best Friends Animal Hospital is hiring an Associate Veterinarian. This role is ideal for an experienced doctor seeking balance, consistency, and a collaborative team environment.

Location: 2118 Coteau Rd, Houma, Louisiana.

Compensation: $90,000–$100,000 per year plus a sign‑on bonus of up to $30,000.

Schedule and Work Style

What Your Day Looks Like

What You Need

  • DVM with experience in small animal medicine.
  • Strong communication skills.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat small animal patients.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Perform soft‑tissue surgical procedures and dental treatments.
  • Interpret diagnostic results including lab work and imaging.
  • Prescribe medications and recommend preventative care.
  • Educate clients on treatment options and long‑term care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
  • Practice medicine in accordance with veterinary ethics and regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; with assistance over 25 pounds.
